This project was born from the desire to energize our community by creating a space for relaxation and awareness of nature. Its aim is to highlight the forest in order to establish a relationship between the city and nature. It allows the community to engage in eco-tourism initiatives, and also, thanks to the involvement of residents, to make this park a true local living space.
This site belongs to the Vergt Patrimoine association. This project, which started in 2019 and was completed over three years, cost 154,000 euros. This site is maintained and made available by volunteers; please respect their work. Over three years, the rehabilitation of this 1.5-hectare hillside, which had been abandoned for several years and used as a dump, was made possible thanks to our various financial partners.
Discover the park’s visitor center with its permanent exhibition on the forest, orchids, insects, and the arboretum featuring over 40 species of trees planted on this part of the hillside. The barefoot trail allows you to connect closely with nature.
Several walking trails allow you to discover the different natural environments of the hillside, including deciduous forest, dry grassland, and limestone cliffs, with a passage through the badger tunnel and the birdhouse. The squirrels’ theater is a place of greenery and poetry in the heart of the forest. The butterfly terrace offers a view of the small town of Vergt and its valley. The Croquant trail tells the history of Vergt through the centuries. A picnic area is available along the hiking trail, at the lower entrance of the park
